We present development of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) technology in Vigo System. We discuss a path from epitaxial design through MOCVD epitaxy, processing and testing to lasing devices. We show results of measurements of static characteristics of our lasers and point out mechanisms behind their state-of-the-art electrical and optical characteristics. We also discuss initial reliability testing and present future paths in the technology development to follow.
Marcin Gębski is a Processing Development Engineer in Vigo System and a researcher in Photonics Group, Institute of Physics, Lodz University of Technology. He graduated from Lodz University of Technology in 2012 and received PhD in Physics from the same university in 2017. From 2015 to 2019 he worked as a post-doc in AG Lott, Technical University Berlin where he realized the world's first electrically-injected vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser with monolithic high contrast grating. His main research interests are semiconductor lasers, subwavelength diffraction gratings and photonic integrated circuits. Since 2019 he has been involved in development of semiconductor lasers technology in Vigo System.
